Harley Reid named Bendigo Pioneers captain

Harley Reid has been named captain of the Bendigo Pioneers for the 2023 Coates Talent League season.
The Pioneers started their season with a 15-point loss to Greater Western Victoria Rebels, with Reid in the team.
Reid had 21 possessions (15 contested), four tackles and in his short stints in the forward line kicked two goals.

Cranbourne Turf Club fined $250,000 and convicted after Mikaela Claridge’s death

Cranbourne Turf Club has been fined $250,000 and convicted after the death of Echuca jockey Mikaela Claridge in 2019.
Ms Claridge died after falling off her spooked horse when riding on a CTC-operated bush trail at night in 2019.
A WorkSafe investigation found the trail included several features that could potentially spook a horse in the dark.
