The Rocky Horror Show has swept the Georgy Awards, taking home a record nine honours, including the coveted Best Musical title.

The Echuca-Moama Theatre Company was the toast of the night as its smash-hit production, which wowed audiences in May, dominated the awards ceremony from start to finish in Shepparton on Saturday night.

A visibly emotional director Tricia Deakin summed up the achievement best when accepting the Georgy Award for Best Musical: "At EMTC, we say, 'Don't Dream It, Be It’."

And that's exactly what they did.

The winning streak began with Deakin claiming Achievement in Lighting Design, before returning to the stage to collect Achievement in Direction.

The celebrations continued as Chris McDonald was recognised for Achievement in Musical Direction, while Tamara Cadd took home Achievement in Wardrobe Design.

The cast was equally celebrated.

Darcy Elliott and Juliana de Quilettes enjoyed a "rather special night" of their own, winning Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for their portrayals of Riff Raff and Columbia respectively. Gerard Oman was also honoured, taking out Best Cameo Performance for his role as Dr Scott.

Adding to the accolades, the Phantoms ensemble received the Senior Judges Award for Excellence for their “enthusiasm and cohesion on stage at all times”.

The audience was treated to a taste of the award-winning musical when the cast opened the second act of the Georgys with a rousing performance of Time Warp.

Fittingly, the night's biggest prize, Best Musical, was still to come, providing the perfect finale to a blockbuster year for EMTC.

The Georgy Awards judged 33 productions across the Goulburn Valley, Lower Hume and wider Ovens region during the 2025-26 season.

EMTC received an impressive 23 nominations overall, including 18 for The Rocky Horror Show and four for Frozen Jr, which was staged late last year.

The company also celebrated success for Frozen Jr, with Angela Attalh recognised for her "complete enthusiastic commitment to character and magnetic stage presence" as Young Anna, earning a Junior Judges Award for Excellence.

With nine awards, a standing ovation-worthy performance and the night's top honour in hand, it was a Georgys’ triumph EMTC won't soon forget.
