There’s less than two weeks to go until Edward River Council’s Deniliquin Town Hall anniversary celebrations.

The series of events will celebrate 150 years of one of the region's most cherished landmarks.

Since opening its doors in November 1876, the Deniliquin Town Hall has stood proudly at the centre of community life, hosting civic ceremonies, celebrations, performances, meetings and significant events that have helped shape the Edward River region across generations.

The activites will span the week of November 23-27, culminating in a Commemorative Civic Celebration and Community Celebration at the Town Hall on the Friday.

The celebrations will also include guided tours of the historic building throughout the week, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to explore the Town Hall's rich history and unique architectural features.

“For 150 years, the Deniliquin Town Hall has been the backdrop to countless community milestones, celebrations and gatherings,” Mayor Ashley Hall said.

“It holds a special place in the hearts of many residents and remains one of our region's most recognisable landmarks.

“This anniversary is a chance to honour the generations who have contributed to our community's story and to celebrate one of Deniliquin's most enduring landmarks.

“I encourage everyone to come along, reconnect with our shared history and be part of this special occasion.”

ERC CEO Jack Bond said the anniversary highlighted the Town Hall's lasting significance to the Edward River region.

“Council has invested significantly in recent years to restore and conserve this iconic building, returning it to its former glory and ensuring it can be enjoyed by residents and visitors for generations to come.

“As we celebrate 150 years of the Town Hall, we are not only recognising its rich history, but also its ongoing place at the heart of our community.”
