Deniliquin High School is proving that the true strength of a school lies not in its buildings, but in its people.

Following the fire that impacted parts of the school in late 2025, the school community has embraced a clear message: ‘Stay Local, Educate Local’.

Together, staff, students, families and the Deniliquin High School P&C Association are continuing to provide outstanding educational opportunities and support for local young people.

And they’ve also launched a campaign to make it even better into the future.

Principal Glen Warren said while the school has faced challenges, the commitment of its people remains unwavering.

“The school might have been damaged, but the people are the same,” Mr Warren said.

“Our staff continue to deliver excellent learning, wellbeing support and opportunities for every student.”

The future is also bright, with the NSW Department of Education committed to rebuilding Deniliquin High School and delivering modern, state-of-the-art facilities that will support contemporary learning, particularly in science, technology and mathematics.

Beyond facilities, the school continues to offer strong academic programs, targeted wellbeing initiatives and a wide range of extracurricular opportunities.

Students benefit from evidence-based teaching, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), Restorative Practice programs, and access to local assets including sporting facilities, agricultural programs, the river environment and the school’s own agricultural plot.

“We believe learning is about more than just academics,” Mr Warren said.

“It’s about developing the life skills and values needed to face challenges beyond school.”

Supporting these efforts every step of the way is the P&C - a dedicated group of parents, teachers and community members committed to helping every student reach their full potential.

P&C president Vincent Kelly said the organisation works hand in hand with the school to deliver programs that directly benefit students.

“Our committee sees first-hand the dedication of teachers and support staff,” Mr Kelly said.

“We are committed to supporting quality education and student growth, so every student has the opportunity to succeed.”

The P&C funds and supports a broad range of initiatives, including the school canteen, Homework Centre, Driver Education Program, Breakfast Program and travel subsidies for students representing the school at state and national levels.

The Breakfast Program alone serves more than 150 breakfasts each week, helping improve attendance, punctuality and classroom engagement.

The Homework Centre provides after-school academic support, while the Driver Education Program gives Year 10 students practical road safety experiences through partnerships with emergency services, health professionals and driving instructors.

Through fundraising efforts that regularly exceed $15,000 annually, the P&C also helps fund sporting uniforms, technology and applied studies equipment, canteen upgrades and new recreational resources for students.

Together, Deniliquin High School and its P&C demonstrate the power of a connected community.
