Jerilderie’s senior footballers ended their 2025 season with a loss to Deni Rovers in Saturday’s first Picola League elimination final at Strathmerton.

Deni proved too strong and ran out 32 point winners.

Both sides came firing out, with Deni taking their chances in the first term before surging in the second quarter with four unanswered goals, taking a 37 point margin and momentum into half-time.

Jerilderie wrestled back momentum and got within three goals early in the last quarter before Deni kicked away late in the match.

For Jerilderie, Kane Hawkins was outstanding in the midfield with Max Diffey by his side.

Riley Heywood and Trav Lawton were everywhere, gathering possessions across all parts of the ground and keeping the Dees in the contest.

The goals were shared around, with R Knight and C Retalick slotting two, and singles to L Taylor-Nugent, T Lawton, R Heywood, F Pinnuck, B Beasley and C Marshall.

While the result wasn’t what Jerilderie had hoped for, this group has an exciting future ahead.

The club would also like to thank staff and supporters for their support throughout the year and encourage everyone to get behind netballers in the finals.

Final score: Deni Rovers 15.9 (99) def Jerilderie 10.7 (67).

C-grade: Jerilderie 41 def Rennie 33.

A fantastic win against Rennie. The girls stood tall and gave a tireless effort from start to finish.

The defenders were outstanding, pulling in crucial rebounds and intercepts, then transitioning the ball back to the attackers with confidence.

The mid-court worked relentlessly all game, linking the court beautifully and delivering the ball seamlessly to the shooters.

Up front, the shooters combined well, moving with purpose and finishing with composure in the ring.

It was a great day at Tocumwal, and the girls should be incredibly proud.

Despite multiple injuries throughout the season, their hard work and determination have brought them this far, and the win was a true reflection of their effort and teamwork.

Jerilderie’s under-17s and under-15s netballers play this weekend in the qualifying finals.
