Wednesday was the Women’s Opening Day for 2025 and after golf, players and guests enjoyed a light lunch provided by the women’s committee. There were 26 players and the winner was Hannah Kelly with 38 points, r/u Gai Singleton 33. Men’s winner was Cu Priuljith 36 points. Ball comp: Rob Klemke 35, Maree Doyle 31, Kellie White 30 and Kim McCaw and Barry Wilson 29. NTP 13th Maree Doyle; 18th Andrew Tregeagle.

In the Thursday 9-hole stableford competition the winner was Colin McNamara with 18 points on c/b Trevor McCaw.

Saturday was stableford and the women’s winner was Sharon Pyle 32 points on c/b Gai Singleton. NTP Sharon Pyle. Men’s Division 1 winner was Paul Pinnuck and Division 2 winner Nick Hay both with 38 points. Ball comp: Rodger Sutton 34, Ian Armer Jnr 33, Mark Newton, John Taylor and Andrew Tregeagle 32 c/b. The Finley Men’s Open was played on Sunday with a field of 71 players. Division 1: Scratch winner Brett Molnar 70, r/u Mat Collins 73; nett winner Ryan Donkin 76/7/ 67, r/u Alan Lowndes 77/6/71.

Division 2: Scratch Simon Fuller 82, r/u Grant Shaw 84; nett Luke Keating 83/12/71, r/u Norm Pyle 87/13/74.

Division 3: Scratch Barry Wilson 94, r/u Peter Wood 95; nett Bailey Burke 100/28/72, r/u Billy Smith 99/22/77. Ball comp: Colin McNamara 72 nett, Rob Daniel 73 nett, Vincent Kelly and Matt Whelan 74 nett, Dale Pyke 75 nett and Adam Purtill 76 nett.

Jerilderie

On Wednesday, a cheery group enjoyed a stableford medley, with Margo Gregory winning the day with 36 points; r/u on countback Kerrie McLennan. NTP: 7th Heather Cameron, 13th Heather Cameron, 16th Kerrie McLennan. Suz Graham had a fantastic gobbler on the 18th; what a way to finish the round.

A large number of volunteers contributed to a successful working bee last Saturday, with the greens being cored, seeded and fertilised. This work has meant that the course was closed from Saturday and will reopen this Friday, March 14.

Tocumwal

The women’s opening day event was held last Tuesday, when 56 women played in the stableford multiplier and afterwards enjoyed a 2-course lunch in the clubhouse. Winners were Shellei Clark and Mary McMahon with 84, r/u Cheryl Hart and Kerry Conrad 81 c/b.

On Wednesday, the men’s competition was stableford. A-grade: Ray Watmore 39, r/u Ronny Huy 38, 3rd Malcolm Dickson 36 c/b. B-grade: Donovan Tainton 43, r/u Michael Taylor 38, 3rd Hiram Garlick 37 c/b. C-grade: Ricky Bourke 38, r/u John Baker 37 c/b Greg Hales. D Grade: Ray Hehir 37, r/u Ian McFarlane 36, 3rd Kevin Cooper 35 c/b. James McMaster had an eagle on 3C and Donovan Tainton an eagle on 11C.

It was a busy course on Saturday!

The men’s competition was stableford and there was yet another eagle from member John Laidlaw on 5P. A-grade: John Laidlaw 37, r/u Malcolm Hart 35 c/b Darran Rowe. B-grade: Matthew Lennox 35, r/u John Bradbury 34 c/b Ricky Bourke. C-grade: Billy Govan 39, r/u Hayden Hughes 37, 3rd Ed Brown 34 c/b.

The women also played stableford. A-grade: Kerry Conrad 37, r/u Libby Quick 35 c/b. B-grade: Blaz Rakas 41, r/u Marie McLennan 34.

On Sunday 81 men including many visitors played par on the captain’s course.

A-grade: Noddy Ireland +3, r/u Colin Holdsworth +2, 3rd Darran Rowe +1 c/b. B-grade: Peter Webb +5, r/u John Wilson +3 c/b William Hull. C-grade: Jason Radford 0, r/u Luke Hewitt -2 c/b Joe Sacco.

The women also played par. A-grade: Leanne McIntyre +1, r/u Kirsten Crick -3 Leanne Marshall.

Southern Riverina Veterans

The Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association March competition was a stableford event played at Cobram Barooga on Monday with 90 golfers taking part.

A-grade winner was Steven Webster from Yarrawonga with 35 points on countback to Ron Huy from Tocumwal. Graeme Landy from Cobram Barooga with 37 points claimed B-grade, with Maurice Adams (Cobram Barooga) the runner-up on 36.

Tony Maynard (Cobram Barooga) won C-grade with 35 points from runner-up Jim Oakley (Tocumwal) on 34.

NTP: 5th Ross Lacy (Cobram); 8th Rob Singleton (Finley); 13th Rod Jackson (Tocumwal).
