Visy workers return to work but planning more industrial action

Visy plant workers in Shepparton have returned to work, but are planning more industrial action over pay negotiations.
Around 40 workers at the Visy plant walked off the job for 24 hours from 7am on January 18, to 7am on January 19.
The action was due to negotiations over a new enterprise bargaining agreement reaching a “stalemate”.

Nepali language film a Shepparton first

For the first time in history, a Nepali language movie is being shown in Shepparton at Village Cinemas Shepparton.
Hosted by the Greater Shepparton Nepalese Community, the charity-based event will premiere The Secrets of Radha.
The film’s writer and director, Subarna Thapa, will be there to introduce the movie and run a Q&A afterwards.

Council reminds owners to maintain vacant blocks

Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding land owners to ensure long grass on their property is maintained.
Grass growth has increased rapidly around the region due to the recent warm weather and rainfall.
The hot weather means there is a risk of bringing more snakes in and a higher chance of grass fires occurring.
